Description

SLP-2 (stomatin-like protein 2) is an unusual stomatin homolog. It is a mitochondrial protein and functions in energy process by MMP maintenance and subsequently affecting cell motility, proliferation and chemosensitivity. SLP-2 was identified as a cancer-related gene overexpressed in human ESCC, lung cancer, laryngeal cancer and endometrial adenocarcinoma. In tumor cells, SLP-2 promotes cell growth, cell adhesion and tumorigenesis.
